16 and Pregnant

All of you know how much the ninja loves MTV reality shows, he loves them almost as much as being a ninja… Oh wait that was meant sarcastically… He doesn’t love them but there is a new one on the horizon. And yes, holding true with the high quality standards of its predecessors should be good.

Titled 16 and Pregnant stars Chelsea Houska with the entire show revolving around the young mother. Chelsea shares her story and experiences being well… 16 and Pregnant. If you wanted to catch an episode of the show one was shown yesterday, March 9th.

Here is the complete break down of 16 and Pregnant, as if you haven’t already figured it out already. During the course of the first season the protagonist was followed around by an MTV film crew as Chelsea attended high school, etc.

The show was hugely successful for the station and MTV ordered another season of 16 and Pregnant, no she didn’t have to get pregnant again don’t worry. She gave birth in the forth episode…

This was the episode shown last night is the forth episode in the second season and was titled 16 and Pregnant: Chelsea.

Here is a short synopsis of the episode.

“Chelsea Houska is from Vermillion, South Dakota and had a boyfriend named Adam Lind, who was her baby’s father. Adam did not want a baby at first, but supposedly came around after a while. As time grew closer for the baby to be born, Adam kept blowing off Chelsea. Chelsea went back to high school as a senior and on her first day back went into labor 5 weeks early. She was rushed to the hospital where she gave birth to baby Aubree Skye. After baby Aubree was born, she was diagnosed with jaundice and had to stay in the hospital for a few days. On Aubree’s first day home, Chelsea had to beg Adam to come see the baby. Their relationship deteriorated because Adam did not seem to care about baby Aubree. It eventually turned ugly one day when Chelsea wanted Adam to come see Aubree and he sent her a text message on her cell phone that was extremely degrading towards Chelsea (“you fat stretch mark bitch”) and calls Aubree a mistake (“tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake”). Chelsea goes into a law office with her dad and best friend and gets baby Aubree’s last name changed from Lind to Houska. She says she is going to do what is best for her and her daughter.”

If you remember when MTV had more than reality TV shows when were you born? There isn’t much left on this channel and there isn’t a very good chance that there will be much more in the future. Shows like Chelsea’s 16 and Pregnant are cheap to produce and with teen stars they can get by with paying them the absolute minimum. Collect a group of teen mothers together you still have to pay them nothing.

Why does MTV enjoy to sow shows like this? Well with the ever growing trend of younger and younger teen mothers they have a pretty wide viewer base.
